European Day of Languages
Every year we take the opportunity to raise the profile of languages in our school by joining in the celebration of The European Day of Languages (EDL), on the 26th of September. The day aims to promote the rich linguistic diversity of Europe and raise awareness of the importance of lifelong language learning for everyone.
Each year group chooses their own language/country and we invite the children to participate in a variety of activities covering all part of the curriculum of their chosen country.
We also highlight and celebrate the wealth of languages spoken by children and their families in our school as an important resource to be recognised, used and cherished.
Article 30 of the UNCRC makes it clear that children and young people who belong to a minority group have the right to share their culture, language and religion with other people in that group.
